I need some work done on my Miraphone 191. It desperately needs to be chem cleaned or ultrasonically cleaned. I am leaning towards ultrasonic cleaning, but I don't know if that is available in Texas.
Other work I need done includes to fix the first valve noise (rotor moves up and down slightly), some joints need soldering, and I may want some minor dents removed.
I don't want just anyone working on my tuba. Anyone near Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, or Austin would be fine. I prefer Houston because it's closest, but getting the best person is most important to me. I'm not in a hurry to get it done and I don't mind waiting a month or two to get it done.
I've searched the forum and found some repair technicians, but it seems they move around a lot so I don't know where to look.

Eric Swanson, also in Dallas, is excellent as well and would be definitely worth seeking out, too.58mark wrote:Lots of good places in Dallas, Houghton horns and Rivard Brothers are two of the places that most of the pros take their instruments
Houston... I"m not sure about.
However, I don't think any of those folks have ultrasonic tanks big enough for tubas.

Terry Ghiselli is an outstanding brass repair person. From the west coast, he spent some time in the Houston area and worked on David Kirk's tubas. Then, he relocated to North Austin, where I met him and had him do work on a few of my tubas. He's since left the area and is somewhere in San Antonio now. Check him out.

Sam Gibbs in Wichita Falls has a 90 gallon ultrasonic tank. Brandon does pretty good work, too. He should be able to take care of all of that work for you

I would recommend Lauren Davies at H & H Music in north Houston on FM 1960 just west of I-45. He is excellent! He's worked on my tubas for several years and every time I send someone to him they are pleased with the work.

It would be helpful to know where in Texas you are located. It's kind of a big state.

I appreciate all of the replies. Does anyone have contact information for Terry Ghiselli? Austin is a little bit closer to me than Dallas but not much further than Houston and his name has come up on this forum before.
