I was asked to play in a brass quintet after community band rehearsal tonight (rehearsed after band rehearsal), and it was a humbling experience.... playing quite softly, did ok, breath control took on a completely new meaning. I play a 981, so I have a good horn for this setting, and was sight reading. I am really thankful for the opportunity.......I was concentrating so much

that after a half hour I was exhausted

....this was a good experience.

Cool. If they liked it, maybe they will ask you to do it again. There's no hiding in a small group, that's for sure!

Congrats! Like The Big Ben said, hopefully they'll ask you back! I've always enjoyed quintet playing. I've never been a huge fan of playing solo tuba, but quintet lets you be your own voice, but still part of an ensemble. Good luck!
