The only place I've ever seen a rotary Miraphone tuba serial number is under the triangle on the bell. Just because I've not see it in other places certainly doesn't mean it's never happened.

On horns that leave here with a different bell... I stamp the original serial number plus an eight-digit date code (mm/dd/yyyy) and my initials (DWS) into the side of the paddle bar.

Mirafone/Miraphone serial #'s

The 180 or 80 F tuba ( not shown), the 183 or Eb tuba, the 184/185/186/190 or 84/85/86/90 BBb and CC tubas were being made back in 1950...maybe not exactly as made in 1960's,or like today, no 5 valve instruments yet, BUT they were being offered ( the 'Mother Horns?')...FYI.....Mark

I have an old Mirafone Bb 186; the serial number, lower than 2000, is below the triangle, but no other place. The serial list I found places it made in 1952. A friend has a 1970's vintage 186, which looks very, very similar, except all the tuning slides, inner and outer, are brass.
