Last I heard, not. I remember the conversation with someone who would know, and I'm pretty sure I remember where I was told he's living now, but I don't feel confident enough to say here. I do think if he happens to be in Japan now, that is "again" rather than "still."

According to his facebook page, it says he's still in Oaxaca City, Mexico unless he has forgotten to change it.

Since I'm not on Facebook... what's he up to in Oaxaca? Is that the center of Mexican tuba culture? Or is he just being an old retired guy in a warm climate?

I believe that's exactly it. He spoke fondly of the area in his interview on Sarah's Horn Corner on YouTube.
