What's a Besson BBb 700 non-compensating worth

Post by vespa50sp »

I've been thinking about moving over to a Eb Tuba, mostly because I've been having fun playing an old Eb that I bought recently, but also thinking about moving down to a smaller horn. Maybe a Yamaha, Old Imperial or new Wessex Solo. I've been basically eyeballing the Baltimore Brass and other sites for prices on Eb's.

But funds are not unlimited. So I'm considering selling my Besson 700 BBb 4v and trading up. I picked it up new old stock about 14 years ago, had a dent taken out and have been playing it ever since. Still in pretty good shape. No hard case, but a guard gig bag.

I looked online, but this doesn't seem to be a very common horn. It has better intonation than the Yamaha 321 I used to play. 19" Bell. I guess I'd call it an intermediate horn. Any idea on it's value for trade-in or outright sale? I think it would be good for a HS Kid who wants his own horn or a community band member.

Thanks

Did you ever sell your 700 series Bb? If so, how much did it go for?
