Looking for information on Paul Chauvin

Our quintet recently unearthed a quintet arrangement of Winter Wonderland by Paul Chauvin which was really well written. I Googled him, and learned that he was a tuba player with the Make Believe Brass which performed at DisneyWorld and across California back in the 80's and 90's. There is a guy in Madison who sells his arrangements. I couldn't find much else. Does anybody have more information regarding Mr. Chauvin?

Thanks.

Tom

Google is your friend, if you know how to use it.

Ever since I worked at Disney many moons ago, I have always been a huge fan of Paul's arrangements. SImply put, Paul is a great arranger and as an arranger myself he is a true idol to me.

About 6 months ago, I received a package of music from Paul. At that time, I had never met, spoken with or had any contact with Paul. Inside the package were 6 newly minted brass quintet arrangements. I was beyond excited to receive these pieces, but much more excited as I read his letter and found out he had an interest in publishing some music with Cimarron Music Press.

Fast forward a bit...Paul and I talked on the phone a little after the package arrived. Not for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, but about 3 hours. My phone almost died :)

From that conversation, I agreed to publish whatever Paul wanted to send me. Well I was not expecting package after package to arrive at my door step. Almost every day for about a month a package would arrive. The total now is about 3 FEET of new brass quintet music, trios, double brass quintet and even some tuba ensemble charts. All are in manuscript and some are just the scores.

So where does that leave us? I am gradually entering the music and will be releasing the pieces as I complete on the Cimarron Music Press website. I just wish I had about 20 extra hands and never had to sleep.

For anyone wondering, you can hear some of Paul's charts here:

http://www.amazon.com/Wacky-Winsome-Wor ... B000003J4K

Many of the charts from that CD will be available very soon! Also many from the website referenced above and lots of new ones.

Please stay tuned. With some luck, I will have some out in a couple weeks.

Fascinating. Some of us who've played various Chauvin brass quintet pieces have wondered what became of him. Great to hear he's alive and well. (seems there's quintets all over the country who play some of these) The charts we've seen seem to end about 1993 or 94. I'd particularly like to get his 1812 Overture piece that's on the CD :<)

Will do. 11 pieces are headed back to Paul today for him to look over in case there are any edits.

Hopefully mid-January the first batch will become available!

An old thread, but for anyone wondering here is a list of what we have released so far:

On a very sad note, Paul passed away in September. I plan to keep working on what he sent me which now includes 115 tuba quartets all arranged in 2016.
