I play a Wedge SJ Solo for quintet. I really like it for that purpose. I looked on the website and I do not see a 24AW available.

I happen to have 4 different Wedge MPs, 3 of them are in Delrin and one is a custom with a Delrin rim. I rather like the design of the rim. It is rather complicated and unusual but has some very fine points to it. I find that I practice on them quite a bit as they are referenced to several standard pieces that I use regularly. But after almost 2 years, I still keep taking the standard piece onto the stage. The geometry of the Wedge piece is such that at points 9 and 3 o'clock the rim is pulled a bit away from the chops, necessitating that one does push out the corners a bit more that usual. The contact points are at noon and 6. The cup also seems to be somewhat oval which makes the width a bit shorter than the length. I find it incredibly good for cross training and wish someday that I might have the fortitude to stick it in the horn and use it more regularly. I guess I'm just a wuz. Under stress I just keep going back to what has been the most comfortable and secure. That is not to say that I have not appreciated great benefit from the Wedge. I do like it. Very much worth the investment.
