Trying a tuba in Connecticut...

I have been playing the euphonium on and off for years, and am now interested in getting a tuba. I would like to try playing one before buying one. Does anyone have a suggestion where I can go to do this? I live in Southern Connecticut.

Agreed! I have played euphoniums and tubas at Dillons. Let Matt walters know when you are planning to be there.

I forget how to get from Metro North to NJ Transit... so it might not be *that* convenient... but the NJ Transit in Woodbridge is about a 5 minute walk from Dillon Music. I would highly recommend NOT driving there, I've done that more than a few times, and each time, the round-trip drive is about twice as long as the time I spent there... plus tolls...

I am in southern Connecticut (Milford) and I have a big BBb Cerveny which the parents of a former student are eager to sell:

Shoot me a PM if you'd like to try it.

There is an outfit in central Connecticut that sells instruments; Northern Low Brass. He posts on this forum from time-to-time.

Never dealt with him so can't recommend, but he is in your neck of the woods.
