Tuba Repair in the Austin Area

I just wanted everyone to know, since I hijacked another thread earlier this week, that my Yamaha 621 CC has been repaired after the accident I had last Wed. I fell on it (tripping over the door threshold while carrying a music stand and reaching to close the door - I think) while entering a practice room to teach lessons at an area HS. It landed on its valves and I landed sort of next to it on my butt, and left shoulder with my head hitting the wall. It's amazing how fast accidents happen. The tuba had a bent bell, large dent in the bottom bow, and a finger button came off, but the main damage was to the 3rd valve which wouldn't move. There was no visible sign as to why the valve was damaged. I brought the tuba to Sam Bass Music in Round Rock, a small city about 15 miles north of Austin and pretty close to where I live. Kyle, who might be the owner and is the repair person, had it for 2 days and repaired it where I can hardly tell where the work was done. It turned out that a small brace took a hit and was bent causing stress on the 3rd valve casing. Kyle was able to straighten the brace and relieve the stress on the valve casing. He also repaired the bell, bottom bow and he took out some other small dents. He also gave it a chem. clean. The tuba looks great and plays as well as ever. I highly recommend, that if you're in the Austin area and need service or repair done on your tuba, that you see Kyle at Sam Bass Music. BTW - my head and shoulder are fine, but my butt is still sore! Wuddeva!
