Alvin Brehm Tuba Concerto

Hello everyone! :)

Recently, I've been doing some research, and looking at some tuba concertos aside from the most popular in the repertoire, and one of the concertos which I stumbled upon was that by the American Double Bassist and Composer, Alvin Brehm.

This work is published my Schirmer, and there is no piano reduction, only the full orchestral score available. After contacting them, the staff at Schirmer very kindly put up a perusal score for this work, for everyone to view. This can be found at the following URL:

I just thought I'd post here regarding the work, if any of you professional tubists have an orchestra willing to accompany you for this rare concerto, or for anyone else interested in researching repertoire. No recording I know exists of this, and from the looks of the score, it seems to be quite a challenging piece (some parts are in the extreme high register!!).

If you do intend on performing the work, make sure to contact Schirmer in advance though, because they did mention that they were having some trouble finding the parts for this concerto, and only the orchestral score put up on the website was at hand!! I'd definitely be very interested in hearing this virtuostic work performed! :)

Hope you enjoy,
Thanks,

Rohan
