I'm looking at buying an F tuba and being in college I want something that isn't going to destroy my bank account. Is there anyone that has played or is currently playing on a Jinbao F tuba that could give me some ups and downs of the instrument?

There are many F tubas built in jinbao's factory ranging from crap to Wessex and BMB. Which models did you have in mind?

I'm not super familiar with all of Jinbao's tubas. I'm mainly looking for a horn that will sound fairly decent for a reasonable price. Also planning to use the horn on my senior recital in a year and a half.

What's your budget? If you've got $1,000, I'd say you should avoid those old 6v turds with terrible intonation and keep saving your money.

If you've got $3,000, then you're in better shape.

Kind of like buying a suit "off the rack." From Jin Bao I would not hesitate on the Berg from Wessex or the Mack PT(Clone). Though concensus seems to have a high regard for the Berg.
I would not recommend the older versions of the F tuba from Asia (serious intonation issues) that have not been tweaked. Wessex has taken great efforts to make improvements,

Not just the Berg, but also the Strauss (B&S type), which I actually preferred to the Berg, but then I'm used to a B&S.
