And what a fine concert it was! Their final one on this tour was held yesterday afternoon in S. Jersey to a near-capacity audience mostly made up of participants in the Mid-Atlantic Brass Band Festival, held yearly at Rowan University. They put on quite the show, around 2 1/2 hours long and every minute was enjoyable. The combination of sheer musicality and wonderful showmanship was a joy. The MD, Phillip Harper, is masterful at the mic, drawing in the audience to every piece with a great deal of interaction and humor. And the playing of the band, from the excellent soloists through each section was superb. I am not a brass-bander per se, but you don't have to be to enjoy every piece. If they come back soon, do yourselves a favor and catch them!
