Drum Machine

Is anyone using a drum machine instead of a metronome? If so, which one are you using and why are you using it instead of a metronome? Do you think the extra cost is worth it?

I was offered a Dr. Rhythm in a straight-across trade for my Dr. Beat. The deal breaker for me was that it was FAR easier to lay down a rhythm track on my synth to play along with than to fool with some d*mned box with an entry system that was as clear as mud.

Drum machines and any pre-recorded tracks that we play along with take spontinaiety (spelling?) away from our performance.For stage shows and
short-handed bands they add a lot but bog down the artistry of any performance.My bunch had this stuff grinding along with us for too long and we chucked it all for a slimmer sound and a chance to change up to match our mood on a given evening and to make it more interesting and
challenging for us on stage every night.
