Summer bands in Twin Cities area?

I'm looking for a performance opportunity over the summer -- are there any summer-only bands in the Twin Cities area? (Or groups that might entertain the idea of a summer-only player?)

Because of my school schedule, I can't commit to a group during the school year, but I can make a commitment in the summer. I know about Windjammers in Prior Lake, but wonder if there's anything a little closer to home (downtown Minneapolis).

Back in NYC, there was a band that ran only in the summer... practiced once a week, and then like 4 or 5 outdoor performances in July/August. Would be great if there was an opportunity to do something like that out here.

Thanks! :tuba:

Actually, there are a summer and a winter season to bands. South Washington County Band has a summer season where they play a couple of concerts outdoors and a couple of winter concerts indoors. The summer season has more college students who play only in the summer. The St. Paul Police Band has a summer season that is mostly marching in parades, while the winter it is indoor concerts. The Two Harbors City Band only plays in the summer, from June until August. (That would be a long drive for you twice a week). The Bavarian Meisters (http://www.bavarianmusikmeisters.com" target="_blank) play several concerts mostly in the summer. The Richfield Band may have the same type of schedule, but I'm not sure about them. Try the Roseville Community Band, they may have an opening for you. Lastly, you can play with the St. Paul Postal Band (Post Office used to sponsor us, but that ended so the name needed modification). We play every other Monday night at an assisted living home around the cities. You are welcome to come play anytime. Just let me know and I will send you a schedule. (you can likely sight read anything we play). There are more bands around, I just don't know much about them.
