Any ideas on the model tuba and/or player in this poster on eBay?

Ferrules and braces look like a Holton.

There's already been a discussion as to the player's identity. He's the same guy in this picture, from the 1924 edition of the Victor book "What We Hear In Music".





My best guess is he was based either in Philadelphia (Camden), or New York City.

Herman Conrad of Sousa's band fame?

It sure looks like him, but I'd say probably not. Conrad died on September 23, 1920, and both of those pictures are after that date.

Then again, we really don't know how old the picture(s) are, and Conrad did work for Victor:

I did read somewhere (can't remember where) that Conrad (not to be mistaken with Helleberg) had a son that also played tuba - maybe it's him?

the french horn player likely is Anton Horner (1877-1971) who joined the Sousa Band in 1901 as first horn and was also finally 1st horn in the Philadelphia Orchestra from 1902 until his retirement 1946. You can nicely spot the Kruspe Horner double french horn he designed with Kruspe in 1900-1902 (upper off-line change valve etc.) which was later copied by others (eg. Conn 8D).

Hope this side information helps to identify the tuba player.

The trombonist might be Charles Cusumano who did a lot of recording and was very highly regarded.
