I particularly enjoyed the coverage of quarter sizing section and the details of tuba sound waves in a room. I always sound out the sweet spots in smaller venues, and studios. I find the most lengthy surface and imagine an angle approximating 30 degrees and visualize how the wave can corkscrew around the box with similar reflections before reflecting into the bell. I know this seems unusual but the more you find the sweet spot the easier it becomes. I think when players hear something off (or find something difficult to play that is normally available) in a new environment the problem is interference. I find the bigger the horn and bell the higher the incidence of phasing problems.
