Slide Heard 'Round the World

Somebody in the tuba world should create an event similar to the Slide Heard 'Round the World.

This event is part of International Trombone Week, a week of recitals, concerts and masterclasses along with numerous live internet broadcasts.

The Mississippi Trombone Alliance just did a performance over Internet 2, archived and available for viewing on a regular connection. We performed at Mississippi State University in a wired classroom. The mics we used were several "on the desk" mics standard in remote classroooms. (not ideal--lots of clipping in the sound.) It was a good first effort that went very well. Next year, the sound should be improved a great deal by using professional mics. The file has some talking at the beginning and end that will hopefully be edited out in the next day or two.

Milt Stevens is scheduled to give a masterclass later in the week.
