I have recently had the opportunity to hear Mike Sanders perform Mahler 5, Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet, and Pictures at an Exhibition with the St Louis Symphony on his Hirsbrunner and he sounded awesome!

That even makes ME want to get one. Fun read, thanks, Dale.
PS -- I'm a little embarrassed to just now learn that Gene has been in Chicago for nearly 30 years. I had never really thought about it or did the math...

Warren Deck came to Indiana University for a weekend of Master Classes in 1981-1982. We were at Tubaranch having a few cold ones one evening and I asked him his opinion of the Yorkbrunner. He said that Toby Hanks had the best line he had heard about the tubs, which retailed for $10,000 at the time (about triple the cost of other professional model tubas at the time. Toby said "For $10,000, it ought to blow you!"
