Hi All,

I'm interested in purchasing/ testing some Laskey mouthpieces but when I look online, there are only a very limited set of options. Anyone know why this is?

Cheers

I'm more referring to the lack of availability of the Laskey Mouthpieces available online like the Horn Guys website and other music websites. I'm specifically interested in a 30G and 30H euro shank mouthpiece but I can't find them anywhere online.

Cheers

Post a WTB here, I'm sure someone has one they'll sell you.

I have one of each of those (30G(E) and a 30H(E)) , hardly used as I discovered they were the wrong size shank after I bought them.

Happy to split with them as they're not getting used. PM me if you're keen to take them.

[...looks up stock...] Yes, Horn Guys is sold out of the 30's in Euro shank; only the 28's are in stock in Euro. What tuba do you have? I find that the Laskey Euro shank mouthpieces fit very few tubas. Mostly they fit older Kaiser models with the oversize receiver. If you have most any other popular European tuba, you'll likely want the standard shank. Looks like S.G.F may be your savior though.

I use the 30H(E) on my Cerveny 686. Fits the taper well and inserts to 29mm of a 42mm shank (69%).

Miraphone 1291 is the horn in question and it is without the leadpipe swap.

Has anyone tried the 30B? - "Has a wonderful bottom sound." . . . but would that be at the expense of the high end?

Nope. 30B is my favorite of the laskey pieces for my big horn... I play a rotary valve horn though. I've heard the 30H is great for piston horns with its funnel shaped cup. If you have a rotary instrument, I highly recommend the 30B... the G is good, B is Bad A$$! Throughout the range.

For the 1291 and most other Miraphones, use the standard Laskey "A" shank. The Miraphone 1292 New Yorker uses the larger Euro shank.

Thanks. My Cerveny 686 is a 5RV horn, and has a fairly large bore. I'd like to try that 30B.

BTW, didn't Mr. Helleberg play *exclusively* on rotary tubas?

This is good. I like the distinction. I haven't played on a Helleberg cup in years so I can only say that I really enjoy my 30B. Which I think is a deeper version of the G which stands for Geib which I think is a hybrid between a funnel and bowl anywho. Maybe I should try out a 30 H for fun sometime.
