Besson 998 BBb prototype

Just got back from the Frankurt Musikmesse and got a chance to play the prototype BBb from Besson/Nirschl. It has the same configuration as the 995 CC(4 piston/1 rotor). Ergonomics are the same if you've played the 995 and a quick glance would not reveal the differences. Upon closer inspection one can see where the tubing is longer. There are these small test rooms that reveal absolutely nothing about the horn except that it is a tuba. I got a chance to play in the large hall and it wasn't entirely what I expected. It has the Besson sound, which I generally like, but it's voice was not to my liking. It has potential and some will find it to be "their voice." On the other hand, the 995 CC was the best one I have tried. Don't know if one of the 998s has made it to the States yet, but give it a try when you see one.
