King Tuba Bits

Hey All,
I have a 1938 King model 1236 Eb tuba and was wondering if it originally came with tuning bits. It sits on my lap at an odd angle - in other words you can't hug it like my Yamaha YBB-641 (I know, apples & oranges). I was thinking of extending the lead pipe (tuning slide is in the lead pipe) but if it came with bits then I could use them. Also, If It came with bits, can I use modern King sousaphone bits?
p.s. - I have a good bit of leeway in the tuning slide for this.
p.p.s. - Is the 1236 considered a 4/4 or 5/4 horn?
