Heard a great concert in Atlanta this evening. Name that guy rocking Sousaphone, Eastman Tuba, and Euph. (The trombone player was OK, too).

You guys are way too nice.

It's the Edgewood Big Band, it was out first show. We got together to play for the record release party for the alto sax guy, Jeff Crompton.

Jeff wrote all the charts and got everybody together. It's was tons of fun.

We used to play in a group called the 4th Ward Afro- Klezmer Orchestra that has a similar instrumentation. We have some stuff on Spotify and we are playing on Tuesday night at ITEC if you're around.

:-)

And p.s. I played for the better part of a year with Ken's son, Peter Sloan, who is a fantastic, far out, crazy improv beast of a trombone player for the better part of a year and I had no idea they were related.

We were on break after the first set and Pete is like "hey man, this is my dad, he plays tuba" and my worlds are colliding and I said "you're Dad is Ken Sloan? Whoa..."
