The Bass Trombone player here in Buffalo just won the job there and is playing with them ( Jeff Dee).

Terrific post. Thanks much. You are fortunate to have a son-in-law who has the skills to play in that orchestra. Does he have a bio anyplace on the web?

I played with him when our tour of 'West Side Story' played at Bass hall in Fort Worth. He's fantastic! And it hadn't occured to me until just now that it was his father who had done some great work on my tuba 2 years before that when I came through bass hall on another tour.

That's a great horn section and a great orchestra in general. I wish the Japanese label Exton would get around to releasing more of the PSO/Honeck Mahler that they have in the can, particularly Mahler 6 !!!
