miraphone and yamaha mp's

Post by MikeMason »

is there any relationship between a mira c4 and a yam 67c4 or a mira c3 and a yam 67b4 ? resist the temptation to link me to the mp comparison chart....

Im not sure. The Yamaha 67's are a decent beginner's mouthpiece series, but I don't know anything about the Miraphone.

mira vs yam mpcs

I haven't played the C4 next to the 67C4 to compare, but I did try a 67C4 a long time ago and really didn't think it was anything special. I have played a C4 regularly for a long time, so I like that mpc. The closest thing I have found from Yamaha that's close to the C4 is the Bobo Symphonic mpc. They're very similar in response & tone. The Yamaha Jim Self is basically a Miraphone C4 rim with a C3 cup & throat. It's a very nice larger counterpart to the C4.

Yamaha 67C4 feels closer to the Bach 18 and 67B4 is the shallower version of 67C4.
Miraphone C3 (TU-21) and C4 (TU-23) sound very different from the Yamaha mouthpieces to my ears.
