My offer was tree fiddy yamayorks, but your counter offer sounds more reasonable.

I'd give my left nut to own this horn, but the divorce would cost me a lot more. I'm sure it will be beautiful when it's done.

Not voting because I have a 1960 CC 5U already. These are wonderful instruments. I would happily put money back into a horn that plays this good! I had a very nice restore on mine a few years back. Don't discount the value of these early models if you have not owned one.
Once it is in your lap you'll be smillin' and the finish won't matter, but... I would vote/ like the satin silver with gold wash bell. I can't justify all the blessings/horns in my studio now, But a "like-new" vintage silver 186 would the grand prize. Yes, DO IT!

Here's one that is still all original. I really don't mind the 5th on the side. No fancy engraving on the wreath or rotor caps.
Just the traditional logo on the bell. Serial 1507 so I figure 1960. The old lacquer is 99% gone. I did shine it up a few years ago because it got splotchy.
Maybe it will tarnish more evenly this time as it is not getting played as much. I bought this from Bill Keck back in the 70s when he was teaching at USM.
$800 for the horn, custom trunk, miraphone bag, tool kit and Bb crook. Bill bought a CC 6/4 Holton that time that he is still playing.
Can't wait to see the Blokeaphone come out the other side! Tim Jackson
