I posed this a bit prematurely a while ago.
Would any Wessex owners of "Bombino", "Gnagey" or "Danube" care to review their instruments now that you may have had them for a while?

Yes, I will happily post my review of a Danube Eb silver plated - in September, when I had it in my hands for a couple of weeks.

I've had my Bombino for five months now and am still happy with it. The intonation is quite good, especially in the compensated low register. I set the valve slides the day I unpacked it and haven't changed them since. At my age I appreciate that the "little bomb" is 15 pounds lighter than my previous instrument, and have not had to go back to the bigger horn for any song in our repertoire. This year I am the only tuba in our 40-piece band, and the director has never asked me to play louder, so she must be happy with the volume the tuba produces. I had to become familiar with the left-handed 4th valve quickly because our music has lots of low Ab's and G's, but that was not a problem. I did have to change my playing position slightly, holding the plane of the instrument at about a 45 degree angle to the audience. As I noted elsewhere, I am using their gig bag to save weight and am pleased with that as well.

Thanks, Don:
It sounds like your Little Bomb was a good purchase. I am curious as to how much valve slide setting it required. As we get older weight does become a concern. Have you used it on any solo literature? As a euphonium specialist I like the idea of the 4+1 ergonomic match.
Keep the reviews coming, folks/
