1935 Conn Sousaphone

Post by roughrider »

This horn is now at the technician. I have found the serial number. Where should I look for the number and letter combination, i.e. 38k for example? Thanks.

It should be on the collar.

I had a both the Eb 26k and Bb 38K at some point they were both 1935.
I still have the Eb and I have sold the 38K to Matt Perrine some years ago.

Thank you for the replies. I will check once the repairs are done. My guess is that it is a 38k. The bell and bows are massive!

38K has the shoulder plate. Don't think the smaller one do.
1948 Holton 122 (brass lacquer with 26” bell)
1929 Conn 38K (satin silver with 26” gold wash bell)
1936 Conn 40K (silver with 24” bell)
Next?

Thanks. I will need to get theses measurements once I get the horn back from the shop. He is slammed right now with school repairs and as school does not start
here for nearly 3 weeks, he has a lot to do. I would like to have the horn back by the end of September, just about Octoberfest time. Ein Prosit, Indeed!

I agree - but think I've seen pictures of 38Ks and 40Ks without them. And ... really massive? The 46K would have been in the lineup in 1935.
