What 'story' or 'visions' pop into your head when practicing or performing the following excerpts:

Mahler Sym 1, mvt III (solo)
Prokofiev Sym 5
Berlioz Hungarian March
Bruckner Sym 7, mvt IV
Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphosis, mvt II
R. Strauss Ein Heldenleben
Respighi Fountains of Rome
Mahler Sym 5, mvt III
Stravinsky Petrouchka (solo)

I'm more interested in knowing what you think this music means as you play it.

For the Mahler I, if I'm thinking the same part you are, I'm thinking a minor version of Frere Jacques.

For Fountains, I'm thinking of flying... that's all I can describe it as. The majesty of that part is just so ridiculously apparent it just isn't fair.

For Petrouchka... jeez, I'm only thinking about how ugly that solo is.
