willson 2905

I played a 2905 at the army confernece this year. The only difference is that there is no bottom bow guard. Makes the sound alittle lighter I think. I loved it and am purchasing one as we speak.

How much difference in price can a change in bottom bow guard really be responsible for? If the quality is the same for the 2900/2905, maybe this is just Willson's recognition that the price of the 2900 has risen to levels that few euphonium players are willing to spend.

You can bet that with non- mass products (Euphs vs, say, screws), a considerable portion of the price is based on sales politics, not the actual manufacturing cost.
All kinds of combinations are possible here: sell an unpopular product under price just to get the market going, get your expenses back with that other product everybody wants no matter how much you charge and so on.

Hey Gang,
Anybody in the North East here, is welcome to come by Dillon Music and compare for themselves. We just got a 2905 to try and have the regular 2900's in stock. I wouldn't mind hearing a good Euphonium player testing them so I could hear for myself.

I'm curious, what is the price difference between the 2900 and 2905? Seems too new, there aren't any "internet" shops showing them yet.

Thanks. At approx $1000 less than the 2900 the 2905 will be easy to sell!
