I played a 2905 at the army confernece this year. The only difference is that there is no bottom bow guard. Makes the sound alittle lighter I think. I loved it and am purchasing one as we speak.

You can bet that with non- mass products (Euphs vs, say, screws), a considerable portion of the price is based on sales politics, not the actual manufacturing cost.
All kinds of combinations are possible here: sell an unpopular product under price just to get the market going, get your expenses back with that other product everybody wants no matter how much you charge and so on.

Anybody in the North East here, is welcome to come by Dillon Music and compare for themselves. We just got a 2905 to try and have the regular 2900's in stock. I wouldn't mind hearing a good Euphonium player testing them so I could hear for myself.
