Pedal Db on a 4-valve CC tuba

Anyone have any tips or suggestions on playing a pedal Db on a 4-valve CC tuba? The pedal C is not a problem, and even the pedal D isn't too bad - just the pedal Db is a real stinker.

Use a BBb tuba (13&4) or an Eb tuba (1). Save the CC tuba for the day when you have to play a pedal B-natural or C.

Indeed...this is what I did on my old 4 valve Rudy Meinl 6/4 CC.

I have a 3/4 Yamaha C, the 621 silver. I adore this horn, but pedal D has always been a stickler for me. The c, B natural and B flat are fine but the intonation on the D is tricky.

Nothing gets past you guys. :)

"1 wife ago" meaning I have 1 wife now, and had 0 wives back in 2005. Wait, wives? Dammit, this is too complicated. Let's just say I'm married (only once, and happily!) and didn't even know her back in 2005.

How about a bell extension? It works on woodwinds.

Roll up a cuppla pages of music and insert in the bell of an alto sax to get a low A.

On a bassoon, a toilet paper tube inserted in the bell does the same job.

That note almost jumps out of an Eb tuba.

Yes.

Unfortunately, the E and F above that are godawful if you don't have a five valve horn or a good compensator. At least for me.
