Mirafone - Model 185 CC

The Mirafone 185 has always been relegated to the status of white elephant, sandwiched between the more clearly defined 186 and 184 models. I don’t own one but loved any I have tried. It’s a perfect instrument for Carmina Burana.
I believe an early L.A. Tubadours recording featured a variety of the Mirafone tuba line, with a euphonium on the top part.
Who uses one in a professional capacity?

I've done it on several occasions on both CC and F. I suppose the F lends itself well to the work. The high Es seem to pop easily. And ... that little gem of a 2 note solo in "In Taberna" gets a real nasty sound on the F tuba. My F is a 6/4 so it gets plenty of sound, similar to a CC but with the F focus. But really... whatever works.

An R. Winston Morris reference. Titan of the tuba!
