Will Besson recording bell cases work for Conn 20j?

Post by BassTBone »

I need some cases for my Conn 20j and I saw these.

Anybody know if that would work? Maybe with some modification?

Thanks

Disclaimer: No promises given by me here!

That said: My York Master BBb front bell came with a Besson bell case, which works with no problems.

The YM-bell only is 22" wide though, but this present seller claims that the present bell case fits a 24" bell. Isn’t that the diameter of a 20J-bell?

Misread the headline to be about the bell case only.

The Besson New Standard BBb’s have tall and fairly slim bodies. The Conn 2XJ bodies are less tall, but wider and deeper. Like bloke I doubt the 20J body will fit in the Besson case.

Thanks all. I agree it'd be a stretch. I'll pass on this one. In the meantime I got the idea of picking up a used 24" bass drum case for the bell. As soon as the 20j gets out of the shop I'll schlepp the bell down to my local used percussion shop and see what fits. I can't wait for the look on their faces when a 20j bell comes through the door. ;)

Don’t know whether this is helpful:

For a period I had to transport my York Master BBb by bus and by a quite long walk for band rehearsals.

The body went in its case and was hauled with stands and music on a luggage cart. The recording bell went into my SuperSack sousaphone gig bag, which I carried over the shoulder.
