piston top cap threads

I've been nursing these threads for years. . . reverse rotation until they drop in and then careful screwing home. Some less careful folks have buggered them to the point where that doesn't work any more. What can I do?

There are methods and specialized tools to fix this problem. Please feel free to PM me about this.

It's a raw brass baritone horn stencilled "Made in the Boston Musical Instrument Manuty". I have no idea how old it is, but I bought it in 1969 from an "antique" shop. I use it very occasionally, but, more importantly, folks borrow it to see if they want to take up euphonium. . . and my grandkids toot on it.
Thanks for the follow-up. . . and I'm PMing LeeS

Your horn is a BMIM--Boston Musical Instrument Manuf'y of Boston...formed from the shops of Samuel Graves & E.G. Wright...c. 1869... for a nearly 150 year old horn, I would be extremely careful with it. Let'S see a pic of it!
Tnx-

Thanks. The horn plays fine. . . valves work well and it sounds pretty good.

Oops - photos won't move from dropbox to my reply. They just replace the whole page.

Hi-
Your horn is a very late BMIB ( Boston Musical Instrument Manuf'y)--
Probably just before it became BMIC (Boston Musical Instrument Company)--no bell garland, water key, perinet piston valves...probably turn of the Century....very nice...I would follow what Joe or Lee suggest for your valve asking threads...good luck!
