Recording where one can hear a Mirphone Siegfried in action?

There are a couple of Youtube clips of the Miraphone "Siegfried", but they're up close and not really well recorded. I want to hear a real recording of an orchestra or band from the perspective of being out in the audience (where a Siegfried is being used). Any suggestions?

Thanks. I'd definitely like to play test one, but I want to hear how it sounds out in the hall as well.

I'll start over: I know that one of the Vienna Philharmonic players owns a Siegfried. Does anyone know of any symphonic or operatic recordings where he has used THAT tuba?

I don't want to hear myself, I want to hear somebody GOOD!

Terrible (sound wise). Here's a trailer for Wagner's "Siegfried" with the Vienna State Opera, and there are some really fat low notes to be heard. So, perhaps it's a Siegfried being played in "Siegfried" (Does one then switch to a Hagen for the Hagen excepts in "Gotterdaemerung"?).

In December WFMT Chicago is making available a CSO concert from last season where Gene Pokorny plays a Siegfried for Shostakovich's 11th. Might be worth checking out.

He played it on a number of shows throughout the season. Contact him directly and maybe you can get more info.

Thanks everyone. I stand corrected: Gigler in the VPO does not use a Siegfried. They do use other hefty sounding BBb tubas.

Bloke, I'll take your advice. "Chronolith", thanks for the heads up on Gene Pokorny and the Shosty 11th !!! That will be well worth hearing. To think that a Siegfried could begin to keep up with the original C.S.O. York tubas says something about their worth, I imagine.

Gene also used the Sigfried for a couple numbers last December for the CSO Brass concert.

BTW, those annual CSO Brass concerts are just superb. Every year we leave wishing for more! Well worth attending. They sell out so get your tickets asap for those thinking of attending.

I figured it might be decent for comparison because so many people are familiar with the sound of the CSO York. Enjoy! I was at the show and yes it is well worth it.

He used to use a Piston Fafner but I'm not sure if he still does now that he has the Siegfried to fit the BBb role.

On a side note: Now that there are Siegfried, Hagen, and Fafner tubas and quite a few more suggesting their use for specific excerpts, how about a "Loge" Bagpipe ? :P
