Has anyone taken that lacquer off their euph?
If so, any trouble with green funk on their shirts or other issues I may not have considered?

I put a french horn leather wrap on mine where my left hand rests. My hand hasn't turned green from playing it in 4 years!

Bloke, do you know what causes some lacquer to check/craze? I have a Benge trombone from the early 90s that is pretty uniformly crazed, and while it doesn't bother me, I'm worried that if I ever try to sell it a buyer would recoil in horror thinking it is red rot or something, and I'd like to be able to explain what it is.

Of course, it depends on the model whether it's "worth it".
As an example, if it's a Benge model 165 (a good-playing trombone, but...), they just don't bring that much $$$ in the second-hand market.

It's a 190f and a fabulous player, but I wouldn't have it relaxquered because I'm pretty sure the type of buyer who cares about the appearance wouldn't be shopping for a Benge anyway, with all the sexy new trombones out there.
