Sounds interesting...

But really, that could be a very interesting development for them. Not only for they physical weight, but perhaps they play/respond/project more like most people would expect?

If anyone lives near enough to Flums, it would be great to hear some first-hand information about the differences!

I hope they didn't change the way they project . . . the distinct advantage I've had with my Willson's has been the way they throw the sound out to the back of the hall.

Ok, good point, I didn't mean to say that. You're right, the projection is killer on these!

In fact I DO live near Flums (about an hour drive seems close enough to evaluate the way their horns project ) but haven´t been paying attention to what they´ve been up to, lately.

A quick check with their homepage doesn´t reveal anything neither:
BBb tubas weigh in at 12.5 kg / 27 lb, CC horns are about 2 to 3 pounds less.
Euphs weigh about 10 lb, same for their latest UK-models.

They don´t really tend to experiment that much with basic instrument philosophy, in my experience.

I saw a new Willson 3100 this year at NABBA and compared it to my current 3100. It was minus the bow guards which I did feel made it lighter as mine is complete with all the guards. My Eb does not have the bottom bow cap which makes it considerably lighter than a friends 3400.

Someone should just email Willi and ask him.
