...pretty nearly plays itself. At least the one that arrived at my house this evening does. It's not all that pretty to look at, though not bad, but C2 and up 2 octaves+ just pop out. From there down to E takes a little thought at least with an RM2, but not much. Amazing instrument.

They are excellent tubas, congratulations. I regret selling mine from time to time.

It was for sale (well, for trade) on here a few days ago, but I jumped on it and it was quickly deleted after less than a day. Quite a bit less, if I recall correctly. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Oh, I missed it then If there is a serial number on the receiver, it could be my old horn. Either way, congratulations! I especially liked the RM1 or Kanstul Geib with mine.

And there's another one on this site for $6800 too. Nice looking horns. They remind me aesthetically of the HB2. Do they play similar?

Almost the first thought I had was that it responds like a good handmade 2p. The sound is very different though. I've never tried a rotary Hirsbrunner though.

I think the 4/4 Rudy is more "dark" and the HB is more "color." But really, they are both distinct, great, and a matter of personal choice.

I'm surprised to find how much I like the Schilke 69C4 with this tuba. It adds quite a bit of color, presumably because it's so shallow.

Most likely this tuba is going to fit into the category of those many instruments I enjoy for a fairly short time, because as I often say, I like to try things, and then move it along and try something else. That has more to do with me than the tuba, though. It's a great instrument.
