Did Scott Laskey retire?
Anyone know what Scott Laskey is up to? It seems that he hasn't produced a single tuba mouthpiece in at least several months. If anyone knows him personally, tell him to get that lathe going!

I hope he didn't retire. If he did, I'm gonna buy up every single model of his tuba mouthpieces.

I would assume not or his booth at MidWest would be really strange. Unless this is a really old update to the website.

Re: Did Scott Laskey retire?
I have several students and friends who are looking for Laskey mouthpieces and they are not in stock anywhere. The used ones get gobbled up pretty quickly too so I do hope he's still making them.

Wes, have your students tried calling Baltimore Brass? I bought a 28H from them a couple weeks ago, and it sounded like they had a few in stock.

Lo and behold! Just got the 30h from BBC I've been on a waitlist since August for!

I also received a Laskey 30H from Hickey's Music that I ordered back in June. I believe they still have some in stock.

Re: Did Scott Laskey retire?
Do they just do mouthpieces for different instruments in different production runs?
For example, I know Monette makes tuba mouthpieces twice a year. A poorly timed order can mean a lot of waiting.

I think Laskey is a one man operation. That was the impression I got from BBC.bort wrote:Do they just do mouthpieces for different instruments in different production runs?

Re: Did Scott Laskey retire?
I just talked with Scott Laskey yesterday. He is a great guy and very easy to talk to. I asked some questions regarding his 30H and the schilke helleberg II which he also designed. He said he is finishing up his batch of French horn mouthpieces and then moving onto making some tuba mouthpieces. He guessed around 3 weeks and suggested I put an order in with Baltimore Brass. So I called up Andrew at Baltimore brass and put in an order. Baltimore brass won't charge you until they receive the mouthpieces from Scott Laskey. So no, Scott Laskey did not retire.
