I play my F tuba a ton and for nearly every solo that I've played for the past 3 years but I'm in the process of programming my junior recital and would like to play at least one solo on my CC or BBb tuba, I haven't really found many so I'd like to prod the community for some ideas, drop some suggestions on some solo that would work well on the bigger horns thank you! :tuba:

Wilder:
Sonata
Effie Suite

Hartley:
Sonata
Don Haddad:
Suite

Worked well for me in college in the late 60s on a Mirafone 186 BBb

I don't have any recitals to prep for, but I'm kind of interested in doing the same thing. Maybe leaning towards working up the Lebedev Concerto on the CC, as it seems like a nice piece and I never performed it in music school. Might be fun.

Hindemith works (but I'd rather hear it on the F, not sure why)
I did the Wilder Sonata #1 on CC for my own junior recital. Interesting piece.

Good luck with your decision.

Having just done my junior recital this past semester, I performed Six studies in English Folksong by RVH, Ordner Seg by Baadsvik, and believe me if all those endearing young charms arr. by Werden. I had a blast preparing them and did it all on a BBb Miraphone 1291. I also found that the hindemith is well within a comfortable range for larger tubas, but decided not to do it. Have fun! :tuba:
