Maintaining Raw Brass

The finish on my 60? year old tuba was ugly. Someone had tried to clean it up and there was some lacquer over spray (second or even third coat) on it. So I decided to strip the lacquer off.

It has numerous "character" dings and dents, but is starting to look more presentable again. Is there any particular cleaner or method that holds off tarnish longer. I used 3M Tarnishield on my silver horn and it seems to help. What are the recommendations for care of raw brass? Thanks.

Rubbing with Scotch-Bright pads will produce a uniform scratch finish. Wiping down with furniture polish (Pledge) will slow development of patina. Car wax is good, too.

Seems like a good idea, thanks. I found a picture of one of your horns
