I had a 4th grader get one of these back at the end of the summer. She insited upon playing the tuba. They are a good little tuba and very suitable for kids. My student Rose loves it. That particular one did apparently come from the generation before Jonathan had discussed ultra sound cleaning at the factory. The valves accumulated a black crud that took some effort to remove, but it is otherwise fine. I believe this is an old issue with Wessex as they seem to be on top of these things now. I have to admit though that it is not just a silly little student tuba. It does have a certain weight to the sound, and with a more adult level of resistance is more of an adult instrument than an easy blowing student horn. But the size is perfect.
