Dillon Music Tuba Care

Post by Tubassist »

Does anyone know what kinds of oils and/or greases Matt Walters of Dillon Music uses? I bought a horn from him a while ago and the slides and valves moved perfectly! Would like to know for future reference...

I actually just got the MW treatment on my new Eastman on Monday and I was wondering the same thing! My valves fly and and my 1st valve slide moves so smoothly I asked Matt if he lapped it. He said, "no, I just used _______". (That's me forgetting). I totally meant to write it down, but I think I was winded from playing literally every CC/F in the shop! Anyway, I'll report back if I find out before you do. I also wounldn't be surprised if Matt chimes in here.

Matt said I could pretty much use what ever brand of valve oil tuning slide lube I wanted. I use Blue Juice on my valves and Vaseline on the tuning slides.
