Looks like that elusive Cerveny CC ppl were talking about on here a while back. Sort of a 7/8 or smallish 4/4 tuba. That's the same tuba in the pic w/Bell in the old Bill Bell method book I believe...

That orchestra's tour in 1954 included a concert in Los Angeles. Guest conductor was the up-and-coming Guido Cantelli, who was killed in a plane crash not too long after. I received tickets to that concert for my 18th birthday. I remember being astonished by Gordon Pulis' playing. Bill Vachianno, also. Tone quality was unreal. Wish I could find the old program to refresh my memory as to what they played. Pictures at an Exhibition, maybe. -Ace
