This horn is beautiful, but I wonder what it is. It is on the cover of "Tubas," a short, 24-page book for readers aged 9-12 years.

The engraving pattern looks like a York.
I've heard that James Jenkins has a 6/4 York BBb with a silver / gold finish. I don't know if the person in the picture is Mr Jenkins.

That is a VERY beautiful horn...and has not one, but TWO naked ladies in the engraving. Classy, but some "bling" there, too.
He sounds great on it, by the way.

What a beautiful tuba! It doesn't get much nicer than that. Bling bling all the way to The Tuba National Bank.
Lovely.

Oh.....WOW!!!!
I'm speachless. I am without speach!
I know the tuba itself doesn't make the player......BUT....who wouldn't want to study with a man who has a York tuba like that? Anybody??!?!?
Seriously, Mike Mason...I know you studied with him. How far would I have to drive from Birminham to take a lesson with him. I've heard nothing but great things about him!!

It's nice to see that he kept the original wide bell and didn't have it trimmed down to 19" or 20" or so.

It's my understanding that James did not have the work done himself, but bought the horn from a gentleman that spared no expense in the restoration.I think Vince S. brokered the deal since he knew James was one of the few SERIOUS BBb players around.James' other horn is a 4/4 BBb Marzan piston that was overhauled about 15 or so years ago(he also has a couple of F's). He is amazing on both(and every other horn i've heard him play).I learned WAY more than tuba from James. He was one of ,if not the, major influenes in my life. Thanks James...

Nope, he doesn't do EMF anymore--Lee Hipp from San Antonio does it now.
