Water Leaks

Post by ATschetter »

So, I play on a Hirsbrunner 392. Like many horns that take after the York, my horn prefers to leave its spit in the valve slides rather than the main tuning slide. Often, when I empty the spit, some will stay on the inner slide and be pushed onto the outer slide when they are put back together and drip onto the rest of the horn. Additionally, I get a decent amount of leakage onto the bottom bow like many other players. It is problematic because of the water spots they leave when drying as well as the slow corrosion over time on a silver instrument. Does anybody have any long- or short-term solutions to water leakage?
