Untrassonic Cleaning

I just had my "new" set of horns go though the ultrasonic cleaning process.
The Eb (983 laquered) came out pretty clean although I ran my hand in the first bow and it still came out stained redish/brown. Is this from the original manufacturing process? The MW 2155 had the same type of residue.
The PT-20P still had a lot of rough deposits in the tubing and slides. Mind you, this one really needed cleaning. The shop offered me to reprocess the horns again at no charge.
Overall it's a great way to clean large instruments. It's pricy but it doesn't mess the bathtub.
What's your experience with the traditional cleaning and if applicable, the "new" cleaning process.
Cheers,
