Makes sense.

I think this was Miraphone's design actually... But Jinbao produced this copy before Wessex put it in their lineup.

I'm pretty sure this is not a new development. There may perhaps have been a gap, but Laabs was selling this several years ago.

Once upon a time, around the time Wessex and Mack Brass were starting up, I talked with Tom about it. He didn't want to include it in his inventory because he thought it would be too hard to make money on, but was willing to order one if I wanted it.

This is basically a clone of a Miraphone 1291 and is a standard Jinbao product and not new Wessex development (although we have made enhancements over the standard product). It is still in Wessex catalogue at present, but we are in the process of developing a new original design 5-valve piston BBb (based on the CC Wyvern) which will replace the Michigan in the Wessex line-up during the next year

How did a Chinese copy of a German design sold by a British company get the name "Michigan"?
I think it was the first new tuba added to Wessex range after opening Michigan store

Quote from ad - "Authoritative projections with vociferous sub tones" - If this is the same design as the "Michigan" it should be a very nice horn.

I played one at Midwest a few years ago and thought it played very well. I'd buy one.

So York used to advertise vociferous subtones and such North Korean sounding things?
