A lot of people say to use neoprene on the "down" side and cork on the "up" side. The cork is supposed to have less bounce than the nepreme, once the lever is released. I prefer pistons.

I use the neoprene/cork combination. It seems to be more durable, and the cork is better for cushioning the return of the valve.

I use neoprene of both the forward and return. Never had a problem with 'bouncing'. My fingers don't move that fast, anyway :!:

Another option is to use a harder elastomer (like neoprene) on the down side and a softer one (like silicone) on the up side. There are so many different elastomers to choose from, that one needn't have to pick either cork or neoprene.
