I believe they had a problem with the name, not having the rights to it.

I think that the problem may have been that multiple people owned the name and none of them had INTERNATIONAL rights...

That's the one that Buffet now owns and I would assume it's what their trademark refers to.

The German line of York brasses was not at all related to Buffet. Rather it was an alternative continuation of the Besson line than the one carried by Buffet. The German York project folded because it never became profitable.

It didn't start out related to Buffet, but it ended up that way. It folded because Buffet bought Keilwerth Schreiber out of bankruptcy and discontinued everything that was a duplication of their existing products.

That's the way some people interpreted the Old English "Y", claiming the horns were by "J.W. Dork & Sons"... :D

That's what we're saying about the San Francisco variety. They might be Giants again in two or three years - if we're lucky.

Meh, I grew up listening to TMBG covering it. The same could be said of "I've Got My Mind Set On You" being covered by George Harrison.

But, getting back on topic, this is a good looking horn, Jonathan. With Wessex and Eastman coming out with 6/4 tubas... looks like there's going to be a pretty decent market for those horns covering a range of budget options. Will we be entering a 6/4 renaissance?
