I played the CoolWinds tuba at the last TMEA Convention, I would buy that. The Tiger Tuba seemed to play OK but if you use valve oil it "melts" the silicon used in the rotors and they freeze up permanently, or so it seems. The CoolWinds model I played had metal (aluminum? very light weight) rotors. That's what the guys at the booth said, metal rotors.

I've never seen or played that model plastic tuba in your post.

Have a look at Coolwinds (I do not represent that manufacturer). I think you'll be surprised.

I should add that the price is not all to consider. Shipping is not cheap, probably adding at least $150 to the price, possibly more. It also takes six weeks or more to deliver. I don't know if customs has been paid at that price. Ask Viola. Buying directly from overseas can be a hassle.

That think looks interesting. Does anyone know if the pistons are running plastic on plastic? ... or does it have brass pistons and sleeved casings?

Anyone a guinea pig for these?

It's definitely a Yamaha 621 copy, and it says b flat or c key which Yamaha also makes both keys.

I'm just wondering if this would be any good or even playable at all. For $500 it might be worth it if it's usable.

Just remember how many household devices you have thrown away as non functional & non repairable junk because a plastic component failed.
Not to mention the cost of disposal...... :!:
